The method

What is BCT (Brazilian Circuit Training)?

BCT (Brazilian Circuit Training) is a music-led group circuit workout rooted in Brazil’s Ginástica Localizada: light weights, high repetitions, and glute- and core-focused moves that scale to every level. Wellsa Junyska, certified by BCT founder Beto Saboya, teaches BCT across three studios in Canggu, Bali.

How BCT works

01

Rhythm and roots

Rooted in Brazil’s Ginástica Localizada and set to music. Structured, expressive, unmistakably Brazilian.

02

Strength

Light dumbbells and ankle weights, high reps. You sculpt and tone, you do not bulk.

03

Circuit

Short stations at your own pace. Simple, safe, and effective for every body.

Who BCT is for

BCT suits every level, from first-timers to regulars. Every move scales up or down, so you train at your own pace. Classes are open to everyone and are attended mostly by women who want strength, tone and energy without a punishing workout.

  • All levels: every move scales
  • Full-body, glute-focused
  • Leave energised, not destroyed

BCT vs HIIT, CrossFit and bootcamp

BCT is often confused with these formats. Here is the honest difference.

Not HIIT

HIIT is short bursts of maximum-intensity intervals meant to spike your heart rate. BCT keeps a steady, music-led rhythm with controlled, high-rep strength work.

Not CrossFit

CrossFit is varied high-intensity training with barbells, olympic lifts and a competitive edge. BCT uses light weights and bodyweight in a friendly, non-competitive circuit.

Not bootcamp

Bootcamp is military-style outdoor drilling. BCT is a studio class set to music, focused on form, glutes and core rather than being shouted through drills.

BCT is strength and tone you can sustain. Train smarter, not harder.

Trained and certified by the founder

Wellsa is certified in BCT by its founder, Beto Saboya, who created Brazilian Circuit Training and has taught it in Bali since 2010. She teaches the method as a certified trainer in Canggu; the method itself is Beto’s.

BCT questions

Short, honest answers to what people ask about BCT.

What is BCT (Brazilian Circuit Training)?

BCT is a music-led group circuit workout from Brazil’s Ginástica Localizada tradition. You move through short stations using light weights and high reps, with a glute and core focus, at your own pace. It builds strength and tone without a punishing, high-impact session.

Is BCT the same as HIIT or CrossFit?

No. HIIT is short maximum-intensity intervals and CrossFit is competitive high-intensity training with barbells. BCT is steady, rhythmic, light-weight circuit work set to music, designed to be sustainable and beginner-friendly.

Is BCT beginner friendly?

Yes. Every move scales up or down, so complete beginners train in the same class as regulars. Wellsa coaches the technique and you go at your own pace.

Is BCT good for women?

BCT is open to everyone and is especially popular with women. The method is full-body and glute-focused, using light weights and high reps to build strength and tone rather than bulk.

Where can I do BCT in Canggu?
